Short Course: Learning Surah Al-Mulk

Objectives:

  1. Understand the meaning and significance of Surah Al-Mulk.

  2. Learn correct pronunciation and recitation.

  3. Memorize the entire Surah engagingly and enjoyably.

Course Outline

Week 1: Introduction and Significance

Day 1: Introduction to Surah Al-Mulk

  • Brief overview of Surah Al-Mulk.

  • Importance of Surah Al-Mulk in daily life.

  • Benefits of reciting Surah Al-Mulk (protection, blessings, etc.).

Day 2: Listening and Appreciation

  • Listen to a renowned Qari (reciter) recitation of Surah Al-Mulk.

  • Discuss the emotions and feelings evoked by the recitation.

  • Encourage students to share their thoughts.

Day 3: Understanding Key Themes

  • Break down the Surah into key themes: the greatness of Allah, the creation of the universe, life and death, etc.

  • Discuss the meanings and how they apply to our lives.

  • Use stories and examples to make themes relatable.

Day 4-5: Interactive Activities

  • Quiz on the themes discussed.

  • Drawing and coloring activities related to the Surah’s themes (e.g., the universe, stars, etc.).

  • Group discussions to reinforce understanding.

Week 2: Recitation Practice

Day 1: Basic Tajweed Rules

  • Introduction to basic Tajweed rules (pronunciation, elongation, etc.).

  • Practice these rules using examples from Surah Al-Mulk.

Day 2-5: Verse-by-Verse Recitation

  • Divide Surah Al-Mulk into five sections.

  • Each day, focus on reciting and mastering a section.

  • Use repetition, echo recitation, and group recitation to enhance learning.

Week 3: Translation and Meaning

Day 1-2: Detailed Translation

  • Go through the translation of Surah Al-Mulk verse by verse.

Materials Needed:

  • Copies of Surah Al-Mulk in Arabic and with translation.

  • Audio recordings of Surah Al-Mulk by different Qaris.
